Either way £12 bln seems a ridiculous amount for it, heck for any IT project...
You're right, but it does seem that we're controlled by cretins (doesn't say a lot about us, either! ) I think I'll scream the next time someone who claims to know about IT starts shouting how performance is affected by tables containing millions of rows...

I think the question should be can AtW follow someone else's requirements and not tell them that they're wrong

Wow, a poll that is almost as balanced as the Daily Mail's "Should the NHS allow gipsies to jump the queue?" poll.

The answer is quite clearly a no, but that isn't an option. It's nothing to do with needing expensive project managers, or anything else for that matter.

AtW, if you are so confident that you can do it, then go do it and sell it to the NHS. It's called speculation - if you build it, they will come. And if you build it, and it works, then you can probably sell it for significantly more than £10 million.

Only in the minds of management types. Explaining distributed systems and performance to people who have problem holding a mouse the right way up is the real performance drag in such systems.

You're thinking is a little old fashioned, but correct. Why not send updates to multiple servers, then they never need to replicate above a background process to recover lost messages.
