I do wish these newcomers would stop disrupting the bench. Some of us are trying to catch 40 winks you know?

I'm not going to miss the 4 hour round trip to London every day.

it's a b*gger but it's where all my work is unfortunately.

Oh my god! You are just like my kids. I tell you not to sit there and what do you do! I will have to wait until it has dried and then rub it down again and revarnish.

    Don't do it again!

Nope. End of August I was offered an extension through to the end of December, and turned it down.

Not entirely convinced that it was the smartest move, now

I must be the only person who jacked in an extension for benchtime, still have a couple of things in the pipeline and have been approached by former colleagues to come and work with them (stuff doesn't start till new year and am happy to wait).

The markets a hell of a lot better than last year, there was nowt from September till feb.

usual stuff: bit of job hunting, gym, meeting up with friends etc. I also got some much-delayed medical treatment that I needed.

I've also been developing two ideas for new businesses. I haven't been as agressive as I might have been in terms of getting 1 or both off the ground but 2010 is a fresh start and I'll be going all out for it.
