Defence giant BAE Systems plans to cut 642 UK jobs over the next two years because of a downturn in its workload.
The jobs will go at eight sites across the UK in its Integrated System Technologies Business, which produces surveillance and command systems.
The sites affected are Portsmouth, Chelmsford, Christchurch, Isle of Wight, Filton, Frimley (Surrey), Hillend (Fife) and south-west London.
Unions expressed "serious concerns" over the loss of skilled jobs.
