Germany has a higher carbon wotsit than the UK according to this: Linky

Shouldn't the western world be surrounding Qatar with gunships and asking them WTF are they up to?

What's wrong with electric heaters? They can be powered by "green" power. No reason to ban them at all.

What about attaching generators to all the treadmills and stationary unicycles you can find in the basements of all trendy urban apartment blocks?

In another thread, a comment was made about banning patio heaters. Fair-do's, I agree, but what about the idea of having eco-friendly outdoor heaters, say for keeping smokers warm outside pubs.

It should be possible to attach beer glasses to a string or something, so that every time you lift it up, you turn a crank shaft, that generates some electricty. I call this beergoNomics i.e. harnessing the work done in drinking a pint of beer. Solar panels, a little wind turbine, couls all help.
Similarly, moving stools and tables could be harvested, and, most important - harnessing the power of the female jaw.

This will be the main source. From my observations, most smokers outside are women and they just talk / smoke and don't drink. Blokes leave their pint to keep their place, nip out for a puff and come back indoors to watch the sport.

Many years ago when Britain was a far better, fairer, more democratic society which allowed its citizens to live a free and happy life unencumbered by stupid laws smokers kept warm by simply staying inside.

Have a sprung floor and put piezo-crystals at strategic points so that the Hi-voltage is captured and stored.
