When my missus did jury service she had a case where an ex-boyfriend found out the ex-girlfriend was pregnant. Rather than risk having to pay the Child Support Agency, he assumed he was the father (we'll never know) and went round her place, beat her up and kicked her down the communal stairs by repeatedly kicking her in the stomach until she aborted.
The trial had to be abandoned when one of his character witnesses 'inadvertently' said he was the defendant's parole officer.

Disgusting. I get quite upset about these things.
My wife had tears running down her face last night telling me about the 23 year old mother of four who left the kids aged 3 months to 4 years alone for the weekend while she went on a binge. Apparantly the four year old was trying to make formula milk for the three month old which must have been screaming its head off at that age and not being fed.
How can people have no sense of responsibility for doing these things. Would the dundee bloke have liked his own eye ripped out.

I would have thought he doesn't belong in prison; he belongs in a secure hospital.
Unless he uses the "it was the drugs, wonnit?" defence and gets off, of course.

I read that the other day and kind of wish I hadn't. The sick barbarity of such an act.
