I don't want it free; I want to buy it, full price, no discounts, then I can deduct it from tax and deny the scavenging tax bastards another hundred euros or so. Business in NL is all about making enough turnover to live a life of luxury while not making enough profit to pay 52% tax.

I'll keep that in mind when I move over there (hopefully) next year.

CoPilot on my HTC Touch Pro 2 is all I need. Got the whole of Europe on a Micro SD card.

Took it to Mallorca and navigated the roads perfectly.

copilot is awful. Compared to TT it sucks big time. I don't know how many times I've ended up in the wrong place with that peice of software.

I won't. I have a built-in Mercedes satnav, 5 years old but with up to date CD's. It has no flashy graphics or colourful screens, no choice of silly voices, no greasy touchscreen and is possibly the most reliable application I have used in 15 years in ICT. Simple, spartan, no-frills and it works.

Strange you should say that. I bought an upgraded TomTom last year. Like a true cautious IT person I ran the new one in parallel with the old one. The first thing I noticed was the voice giving me the wrong numbers of roads at roundabout exits. Then I drove on a dual carriageway and I looked at the display, it was showing that I should be on the right hand carriageway as on the continent. Next roundabout I checked again and it was trying to direct me counter clockwise. A phone call to TomTom confirmed that it was a bug and I needed to download the fix. All well and good but what about people who don’t have PCs?
