    In all seriousness...

    ...I had a couple of trips on the Metro this summer. There are some old banged up lines, with trains that run on rubber tyres - I just can't take these seriously! - but they have some new lines which are fantastic: completely automated with no driver, and train's carriages are ajoined in an open fashion akin to the new London buses. You can literally stand at one end of the train when its not busy, and see right to the other end, and look out of the front window to see where the train is going.

    As for the SNCF; well it far exceeds anything we have.

    The UK can easily compete with SNCF. Just have a look at my typical commute from Waterloo:
