Just thought that I would report back.

I asked the panel about cars to buy, in order to do high miles, for no more than £2K a little while ago.

I have just bought a 1990 BMW 518i.

Full service history, immaculate with great stereo and 4 new tyres (12 Months MOT and 4 months tax) for £750.

Such a comfortable Motorway cruiser and a real head turner.

Gems are out there if your willing to look.......

That's not bad at all. The only 518 I drove really got a thirst on above 70-ish.

Not bad considering that is above the official MPG figures.

The official MPG of mine is 23

I usually get 25mpg out of it

If i'm driving carefully then 30mpg is possible

Tailgating trucks and sticking to 56mph on the motorway I once got over 36mpg on a long trip
