For those interested, it sounds like there will be an announcement on the UK availability of the Kindle next week: linky.

Personally I'd be tempted by the Sony PRS-600 Touch Edition - most reviews seem to rate it highly, and it apparently supports a wide range of file formats:

Where the Sony Reader Touch Edition is a winner however is the open support for most of the ebook formats. In an attempt to become king of the hill, Sony has done something that it's not normally known for and embraced other formats rather than just create yet another closed system.

That means you get support for Adobe PDF documents, Microsoft Word documents, BBeB format, and other text file formats to the Reader. It also supports EPUB/ADEPT and connection with Adobe Digital Editions so you can buy ebooks off the web. You can also play back unsecured MP3s and AAC audio files, as you could with former devices.

The result is that you'll be able to read virtually all file formats currently available.

What exactly should this software do for you - read it aloud?

No the conclusion is that you're an ignorant loser who can't help commenting on stuff you know nothing about.

There is software that makes the screen look "book-page like", as opposed to being a hinged book-like object. Sorry if it's to complex for you

    HTH etc.

Probably because it costs 2-3 times more than a Sony or a Kindle ?

If the keyboard + small display cost the same as £100 + 2 bigger displays that would work ..

There's a classics app which makes it look like a book - quite nice.

I've no wish to read Dan Brown's latest missive but I did note it was available as an iphone app now too.

Now apple have enabled in-app purchaing, I see no reason for a kindle/e-reader app not to take off fully.

That said, the screens a bit small and I'd prefer a book...

I find it quite good and like the large screen (main reason for buying). Doesn't have wireless connectivity though.
