I suspected it for a long time, but what confirmed it for me was Keith Vaz being
suspended from the House of Commons in 2002 then in 2007 being appointed as

Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committe, not to mention being
a member of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council in June 2006.

I could maybe have handled him becoming the Minister for Arts or Sport, but definitely not those positions.

Read the full Wiki article on him and weep.

I think it's quite clear now that nearly all of the politicians have a good grasp of a Classical Education.

For they seem to interpret the word "poli" as coming from Greek, meaning "many" and "tics" as disgusting blood-sucking parasites.

ok..so it's "poly and ticks" but spelling shouldn't get in the way of a good gag...

Rightio, she's the top legal beagle for the UK yet the law she practised was:

She was educated at Mid Essex Technical College in Chelmsford where she pursued an external London University (LLB) law degree in 1976. She was called to the bar at the Middle Temple in 1977, specialising in family and children's law.
which I personally don't think is good enough for such a position as can be seen by the fact that she is responsible for signing this lovely little extradition treaty (PDF.) She really should go...

If one of the top legal minds in the country cant get it right what chance has an ordinary bloke got?

Maybe we should have a central database where people can go and find out about candidates
Top legal mind? Give us a break m8. If you looked closely at some of the crap that is coming out of this government, you'd soon realise these people are either on crack or need a serious application of clue stick. The Lords keep sending stuff back commenting, amongst other things, on the atrocious spelling, and the government still pushes it through, bypassing the Lords anyway. Never mind they use 'enabling acts' for just about everything, so they can just about govern by proclamation.

Seriously, it's going to take a good few parliaments to clean up the legal mess they've created.

The UK Border Agency said she took steps to check Tongan Loloahi Tapui's right to work but had not kept a copy of documents, as required by law.

Usual lies, spin and misrepresentation from the Civil Servants.

The Law doesn't say you have to keep copies. Unfortunately, the Civil Servants don't care about that, and they have decided that it you don't, you are guilty of not checking (even if you did). Another part of the reversal of the presumption of innocence presided over by this pathetic government.

Baroness Scotland should resign at once for passing yet another law making us all property of daft and occasionally vicious Civil Servants who think they know what's good for us. I am pleased she got the fine, now she should do the decent thing and go.

Given that she was the person responsible for getting this law passed it's hard to see why she left herself open to this. Surely if you are responsible for getting this law through the HoL the one thing you would do is check that you comply with it unless you really are especially stupid!

As for the comment from Brown, I thought that not knowing was no defense in a court of law.

But because she had not knowingly employed an illegal worker and had checked documents Mr Brown believed " no further action" was necessary.

However shadow home secretary Chris Grayling told the BBC the law was very clear - that employers could not be "inadvertently innocent".
    Typical

She said she was confident that "having seen the example made of me there won't be any woman in the country who won't be now reaching for that passport and making sure she's got the copy".

I must remind Mrs Parr to check the passports of all our domestics.

No, these chaps will no doubt claim asylum and therefore be able to claim Asylum Support. They won't have to work, indeed they are prevented from working.

I saw a young lad being interviewed on the news last night in the Calais camp. He said he was fleeing from the Taliban. It made me wonder why Afghan lads of fighting age are fleeing here while our lads are dying in Afghanistan every day, fighting the Taliban.

Sorry but that doesn't sound like the actions of a "top legal mind" to me, more like forgetting that you've paid your mortgage off.
