Hey Sundial, don't let Churchill bully you!

The Telegraph never mentioned anything about a breakdown. In any case, it's probably largely Shayler's fault for letting himself get into that pickle, and I'm not talking about the whistleblowing - It sounds like ony way or another he's always had a pretty well-developed sense of his own importance and a taste for attention.

But we don't know the full story, and whatever the circs I suppose the guy is entitled to a bit of sympathy.

Hmm, I just read that Daily Mail article cited above, and it appears he has (or some people who know him claim he has) had a bit of a nervous breakdown. So I guess there is a serious side to this.

I believe David is a good and honourable man but he has had a some sort of severe breakdown. He was a great public speaker and now he is like this.

Yeah, why didn't they show a pic of Dolores?! The tabloids are cruel, cruel, denying Dolores' self-expression.

I'm all for a bit of cross-dressing ex-espionage insanity myself.

Ha ha ha I just looked him up and apparently he joined the MI5 after responding to a job advert quote 'entitled "Godot isn't coming" a reference to the play Waiting for Godot in which Godot never arrives. The advert asked if applicants had an interest in current affairs, had common sense and an ability to write. Believing the job was media related, Shayler applied.[citation needed]'

Honestly the MI5 deserve all they get if they go around advertising in that oblique way.

    Beware people...
