Last year, we had hordes of people wanting to sell at inflated boom prices and nobody buying at those prices; now it's the exact opposite: we have hordes of people wanting to buy at the giveaway prices that the media tell of but nobody selling at those prices.
Sounds very plausible, but they'll be clobbered for gift tax if they're not careful.
The Government must be seething at this lack of "fairness"
Maybe parents are taking part ownership of the properties, not "gifting" them.
So in the past they may have given £20K as a gift, nowadays the lenders aren't lending without much higher deposits - so if they put in 100K they will expect something back.
Have been actively looking into this. It's obvious what's happening - older folk are getting no return on their savings and therefore are putting it in housing.
So yes another boom in the making.
