    Pretty spot-on as a starting point IMHO.

    I personally would often leave some of it behind, and would obviously take more warm clothing as appropriate (for me, holiday <> sun sea and sand). And drop the beach-towel, but take a wide-brimmed hat. And a Swiss Army knife and torch, always.

    Not if you're going diving I took half of my dive kit (admittedly we were boat-only transfer...I'd imagine if you were using Kenn Borek they'd have told me to do one!).

    Maldives is a good test of your packing skills. You turn up for the plane in shirt/T-shirt, shorts and sandals/flip-flops. You carry in a small plastic bag the following:
