I still have all my gold and silver stars that I have glued to an A3 sheet of paper, a good talking piece at interviews.

Generally it has seemed to me that, when there is demand for your skills (as in, experience), you don't need certification; and when there is no demand for it, certification won't get you a job,

However in a market where there are jobs but not many, and many applicants, it may become anopther box that you will need to tick to lift your CV into the 200-CV shortlist

    No - next........

Actually I should qualify that statement....
I don't find certification useful for any roles that I am interested in....
(IMHE) if they are more worried about the certification than about my experience and knowledge then the role will probably be tulip....

I do know guys who have various badges and certs and they don't seem to find getting roles any easier than me... and we often end up in similar places...
I do know other guys with badges and certs that they are very proud of..... and they do get roles that I wouldn't touch with yours.......

I think it's now called 'sectioned' rather than 'certified'.

I apply for roles that ask for certification I don't have, I sometimes call the agent if I am really interested in the role (good rate/location). Never turned down because of certification, usually because I don't have a skill. If your CV matches the role, I don't think they care, just HR covering their ass.

Of course. Take whatever certification you like and then you can go walk into any of the thousands of jobs that are screaming for spotty faced 'erks with a certificate and no experience.
