    Speedtest (http://www.speedtest.net/) do a applet for the iphone that tests connection speed, you can also use one of the other apps to test your phone as well.

    on Friday I connected to the internet using the free Virgin wifi on both my ipod touch and my new Samsung i8910HD phony.

    ipod touch was far faster, which was something I'd suspected. In the spec of a phone is there some measurable value which indicates how fast it will connect to the internet?
