    .. And this is why I have taken the decision to speed up the rollout of identity cards by announcing that alongside people in Manchester, residents in the wider north-west will also be able to apply for a card in the new year.

    Indeed - except it's nothing to do with proving who you are, it's showing you have some shaky credentials that match the government's equally shaky idea of who they think you are.

    The government has continually changed its reasoning why ID cards are justified, making me extremely suspicious of its motives. How secure is this centralised information going to be, because I don't trust them to ensure that. Plus the issue of cost.

    One project I would never work upon.

    Perhaps the Gov will realise this is a waste of money and scrap, the idea, the money they save could be used to fund the scrapping of IR35, (Plus a lot more!)
