The Scousers will get their own ID cards soon enough. Just not with their names on...

.. And this is why I have taken the decision to speed up the rollout of identity cards by announcing that alongside people in Manchester, residents in the wider north-west will also be able to apply for a card in the new year.
Get the scallys & scousers on there first. Good show.

Indeed - except it's nothing to do with proving who you are, it's showing you have some shaky credentials that match the government's equally shaky idea of who they think you are.Originally posted by Brussels Slumdog View PostIt will not be a problem for you but the next generation might find
it difficult to open a bank account or get a driving licence etc.
ie catch 22 . You don't need an ID but if you can't prove who you are then
you will have a problem.

The government has continually changed its reasoning why ID cards are justified, making me extremely suspicious of its motives. How secure is this centralised information going to be, because I don't trust them to ensure that. Plus the issue of cost.
One project I would never work upon.

Perhaps the Gov will realise this is a waste of money and scrap, the idea, the money they save could be used to fund the scrapping of IR35, (Plus a lot more!)
