I disagree with all this. Matalan's a discount clothing warehouse (so I'm told). It's where people have to go when they can't afford anything upmarket. So it will be a recession when their sales pick up, not when they turn down.

Struggling discount clothing retailer Matalan predicted no let-up in tough high street trading conditions as it revealed that pre-tax profits at its half-year stage had plunged by more than a quarter.
