You lot sound like permies !! 'no-one is worth that', 'it's obscene' 'doctors don't get that for saving lives' etc etc. Footballers are just the ultimate contractors, the market decides their worth as it does ours and plenty of people dragging along in hand to mouth jobs and who have qualifications would describe some of our rates as crazy too. Good luck to him and anyone else making coin without hurting anyone else.

Actually - in the big games he generally delivers - there's plenty of examples of that so I canny be arsed googling them. But feel free to do it yourself and dispell this myth.Originally posted by ace00 View PostCome on - it's a dumb move. Footba has all the signs of a market about to decline. Spain is actually doing OK. They own our airports, they own most of our banks, they have the best footballers, tennis players... they seem unable to do anything wrong if you ask me.
And I'm not sure I'd call 17.4% unemployment (record high) as doing ok. Added the the problems with the housing market there I'm not sure I'd agree with that at all...

HTF does up the ante, by a massive scale, with these two players and more to come make them more than the old galacticos?
I guess I just don't get it. Sure it makes sense to somebody - but other clubs in the world aren't that far behind RM and none of them would consider anything like these kind of expenditures (Well unless you're backed by a super rich owner - RM aren't - it's purely advertising/tv etc).

According to the Sun this morning (I know, I know..)
Madrid are confident that Ronaldo could earn them over £500m in merchandising over the next 10 years.
