I think we got this sort of stuff in 1st year at school, the trig for standard grades -

7/7 and I didn't even bother working out the answers out fully, the wrong answers were easier to eliminate.
i.e. for the equation the result must have a 'minus something B' and only one answer fitted that.

I'm helping one of my kids with revision at the moment.
The questions certainly aren't all trivial in the test papers we're using, and the test papers we're using aren't the higher tier.
