    I agree completely.

My view of Reggie Perrin is that the new series has probably been made as well as could be done, but it probably simply should not have been done.

And indeed I have often criticised especially Americans for making American movies based on perfectly good (usually better) films already made in another country. To me, if it's French or German, decide whether you want dubbing or subtitles, but watch the real film. If you can't put up with that, forget it. It is even worse when the original is British: Hollywood remakes it with an American setting, presumably because US audiences won't watch something that isn't about the US. So it's all about making a product to sell, not at all about creating something worthwhile.

Likewise with Reggie Perrin: why remake it? The original is still available, and if the viewer is so mentally limited as to be unable to enjoy a British setting 30 yars ago, what will they get out of a pallid imitation?

Oh and judging by the exclamation mark probably pre-menstrual.

I thank the honorable member for the nomination.

I think it's John Prescott now; it was Alan Clarke in the last Tory administration!

I'm really hating the new series - watched 3 episodes and I've decided to give up on it. I had to watch two episodes of the original series at the weekend as antidote to the carpness of the new one.

    What a shame
