Morning's sightseeing (Cathedrals, Museums, Art Galleries, Castles, etc), couple of beers or wine with lunch, maybe further sight seeing if we feel like it or afternoon/evening on the beer . We usually try and get a football game in too.
As yet, we've never looked for or stumbled across a red light district and we're happy to keep it that way . If we wanted cheap slappers, there's plenty about up here
Bruges and Ghent sound good, but again it's the transport It tends to be a 2/3 night break, we don't really want to spend half a day (with checking in) flying to Paris and then jumping on a train with the same on the return leg.
Thanks for the suggestions though.
We usually fly out of Newcastle, though both Durham and Leeds are options. We considered flying down to Stanstead, then shooting off from there, but again it comes down to spending over a day getting there/back.
Considered the ferry too, but we don't fancy the North Sea in the middle of January.
