I think Darling should have announced different coloured bins.

'On Tuesday , this governemnt will put the yellow bin out, will all those on more than 150k, please put the rest in the yellow bin'
'On Thursday, I am happy to announce that this government will put out the red bin. All those who have been whinging about MP's expenses will throw a fiver in, to cover the new MP's travellodge hardship scheme'
'On staurday we will put out the black bin. Please put your future in the black bin.'

Green measures are about revenue generation and political point scoring, they have no real substance.

The only reason Govt gave a monkey about green stuff was because it gave them chance to tax additional things while retaining popular support: they already maxed that area out really, so they moved on to fiddle with others.
