From your quoted list the above, to me anyway, seems superfluous.

However, surely the T-Shirt should be XXXL?

"Alienware - Looks okay but price at that spec is like buying a small car."

A guy at my last job (ran his own IT comp) had one of those, probably not far off the spec mentioned by MrsGoof. One of the fastest laptops we'd ever seen...when it was working.

Problem was it ran so fast and so hot that even with the external twin fan unit he sat it on it still crashed at least a couple of times a day due to overheating. Support didn't seem too good either.

What about an Asus?, the one below meets your spec...

Currently looking at this bit of kit:

    http://www.rockdirect.com/notebooks/xtreme64_cons.htm

I Think a dual core AMD 64 4800+ laptop might just cope with .NET

    Now where's the price.....

started a topic Desktop replacement laptop

    Desktop replacement laptop

I'm in the market for a powerful laptop to use as a desktop replacement.

Weight and battery life do not matter as I will use it at a desk.

Must have 17" hi res screen, min 2GB RAM and fast a processor as is possible to buy. Needs to run .NET stuff to must have max horsepower.

Sony - Great screens but 1GB ram max. Too puny to run VS.NET, BizTalk, SQL Server on Virtual PC.s and host of other tools at the same time.

Alienware - Looks okay but price at that spec is like buying a small car.

Any other makes I should look at?

    Cheers,

    DP.

Working...
