I think Wednesday. On Thursday the protestors will be kept clear of G20/Canary Wharf. Wednesday gives them far more opportunities.

Don't forget to take a gas mask and a kevlar vest. I have heard that the police have been given authority to use tear gas and rubber bullets and I hope they use them.

They will do what they always do in these situations, identify the main antagonist groups early in the day through intelligence then surround them and not let them move for hours. When the main crowd has dispersed they will release them one by one when they get a name and address from them that checks out.

They will not be using rubber bullets, that is just balls.

Isn't there some big meeting in France as well around that time? I know that in early April they've put back in place pre-Schengen agreements in that going between Germany and France you will have to show your passports at border controls for a couple of days.

Starting this Friday (March 20th) until April 4, border checks will be in effect again for Germany and France.

Carrying a Passport or ID card (Personalausweis) will be necessary. It always is when crossing borders, but now they will be checked.

Border police are stepping up checks due to the up coming NATO meet in Strasbourg and Baden-Baden. Concerns are focused on violent protesters on there way to the meet. Seaports will also be under heightened scrutiny. Authorities are asking everyone to be patient at the borders because longer waits might not be avoidable.

For those that have lived in Europe for a few years, border checks have been a thing of the past since 1985 because of the Schengen Agreement. Exceptions can be made if there is a heightened security risk to the nation concerned.

I hear the protestors have decided to sport pinstripes and brollys to confuise the police - so if you are casually dressed you may well be tartgeted - maybe better to get the old bowler out.

True. We are very very casual all next week. Bring packed lunch/use canteen. Do not go out to watch the riot!

If protestors get into lobby the rest of the building will be locked!

The guards at our place are mostly gurkhas. I dont fancy the protestor's chances much.....

You will not when you see then up close, they were brutal little thugs when they came to Scotland and upon travelling to Edinburgh they were out to get Bank staff dressed in suits. There was plenty of trouble on the trains going to Edinburgh with the crusties having a go with people in suits. Good few Glaswegian people with jobs in banks had a few pops at the clowns.
