I like the idea of St George's day, but we've already got lots of bank holidays around then.
Something at the end of October or start of November would be handy to plug that big gap.

Somewhere after August would suit me - and its GOT to be Monday or Friday to make the weekend worthwhile

Only 1 new holiday?
Can't we have a few dotted nicely around the calendar to give us something to look forward to?

Gordon Brown day. Celebrates the day our great leader saved the world.

It would also plug a bit of a holiday hole between August and Christmas.

Peterloo Massacre day, around August 16th. To be sunny, and fit in nicely between the Scottish and English August bank holidays.

Not a new holiday - move one of the many we have in spring time round to the other half of the year.
Suggestions:
Samhain / Hallowe’en - 31 Oct
Agincourt Day - 25 Oct

A new Public Holiday - when?
If we were to have an extra Public Holiday in England - specifically England - when should it be?

Originally posted by MrMark View PostI hope to God some bright NuLabour spark doesn't decide to make St George's Day a bank holiday. We lose far too many working days between March and May as it is. If we absolutely must have an extra idlers day, please make it in September or October.
Make it a principle to avoid a religious event?
Should it be spring, summer, autumn or winter - and why?
Should it be a Monday, or another day?Tags: None
