It was easier getting into Vietnam in the 90s.
If you go to India you'll have the same sort of experience. 'Customer Survey' kiosk at Delhi airport goes round in an endless loop, airport staff nick stuff from your luggage, jump through 10 hoops just to get a train ticket, huge effort trying to dodge people that won't rip you off.

I'd recommend Vietnam. Much prettier / friendlier / more interesting....

How can you go wrong with grilled meat, rice and salad? I guess you were unlucky.

I've been to little place called Pissouri a couple of times and the local Greek food is as good as it gets in my book, especially up in the village where toothless old gents sit sipping ouzo and playing dominos into the small hours.

    Sunnier than the UK

I have an apartment in Southern Turkey, which as it is only 4 hours away by plan. I had intended to visit quite a bit. Winters are about 10c warmer than the UK, and sunny. August is too hot - but May/June Sept/Oct are perfect. Shorts & jumper weather they call it!

Except when I applied for Broadband, I got told I have to be a Turkish citizen to get it. So now its become an escape from the computer!

What do you base that on? Admittedly if you don't venture from the tourist traps in the main resorts you won't get great food but that’s the same wherever you go in the world.

As always, go where the locals go and you won’t go far wrong.

My mistake. I never realised it was warm there this time of year.
