(hello - first post, be nice )

I had a call similar to this recently asking the same thing, except the agent, sorry, pimp wanted 5 years past references aswell!

Obviously I said I'm not going to give this info to him right now and especially before an interview and CV being put forward - he seemed to get very ar$ey about this. (Probably not hit his new leads target.)

Then, it turns out he is recruiting for another agency who are recruiting for the client (the council.) Who knows how many people my details would have gone through..

I understand a NI number may be needed by a council to check ID etc., but as I would be working as a company to the agency, a NI number is irrelevant?

Anyway, is all this a scam lately?

I never did hear back from the pimp.. what a suprise!

I've had it before. Some internal recruitment sytems require this in order to be submitted. Often people give more info than this to facebook

I get asked for it so much, and where my clearance is held, I have it amongst the extra details on my CV.

Yeah, I've had a few cases of ID theft too. Agents take my CV and put someone elses name on it.

The joys of reducing people to mere numbers hey.

suspect - I tell you its now soo easy to be a victim of ID fraud - when an agent leaves his job - he generally takes a copy or details of the DB and stashes it on his PC - imagine how many of our details are out there

sheesh - proof of right to work or summat
A lot of the customer sites I visit require me to bring Photo ID. Sometimes a passport, sometimes my driving licence.

passport is normally only required when gig offered.

I've never been asked for this information except for SC purposes and never by an agent. I'd be wary too ..

I had to do it for a gig with the cops, I was told it was that or nothing, as the agents were not interested in the information, they would not hold the information and I was contracted to them, I reluctantly agreed.

my thoughts exactly, it's the first time i've come across this, as the only time i've given dob and nat ins is when i've scored a gig
