Can I just change cooler on it? This has got to be the reason as everything else was tried, will leave it running overnight to see if it survives

Chin up old chap. Fixing cooling of CPU is not that tricky.

It still runs -- it has to be cooling over CPU

Yes. Two issues. One is space around chip. The other is it can be a fiddly old job when the Heatsink is massive.

I use coolers like this http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Product...41&GroupID=355

This is likely to be the reason -- I put that major blower next to CPU and its still running heavy 100% CPU usage process, will see if it manages few more hours, if that's the case then the issue is definately cooling of CPU.

Am I right assuming that cooler can be changed fairly easily?

Worth checking your CPU cooler is making good thermal contact with the chip.

Often the heatsink can be cool but the chip underneath roasting due to poor thermal conductivity.

Well, a big FK OFF blower is now blowing right over the CPU, and I mean the wind is fking strong -- temp of CPU seems to have dropped to 32C from what used to be 37C

Bastard computers -- I should have become a lawyer!

Well, it rebooted itself again with new PSU, so it ain't PSU, best guess its CPU overheating, not keen on Disabling overheat check in BIOS, will put big fk off vent to blow air over CPU to see if it helps.

Touched it with hands and it does not feel that hot at all, BIOS was reporting 40C

well, the fking box rebooted itself again -- so I put new silent PSU in place to see if it helps, ffs it is really pissing me off!

the PSU is actually pretty silent, would not say the best but certainly much better than what I've seen before.

Motherboard reader says that -12.00 is still -16.20, and -5.00 is -6.13, the other values (+3.3, +5.00, +12.00) are a big different so I guess -12 and -5 were simply wrong readings.

The £21 one on MicroDirect is Super Silent rated at 23dBa.

30 dBA Sound Pressure Level is the sound level of a quiet room, with all doors and windows closed, and no ventilation systems on. We characterize it as "extremely quiet." A normal classroom at Berklee, during the day but when nothing is happening in that room, has a Sound Pressure Level of between 35 and 45 decibels.

Yeah it sure is -- my current "silent" PSU - 450 W cost me 16 quid, gonna check to see how really silent it is

SILENT is a relative thing. Compared to a £5 600W PSU it's bloody silent.

I bet its not really SILENT -- last time I checked well known silent PSUs were like 60-70 quid.

Yes the £21 is for a 600W SILENT PSU. The £5 ones last about a month and sound like 747 on takeoff. I know, I bought one
