    My Primera 2.0GT manages about 33mpg, and you'd get one of them for <£1K and it'd go for a million miles. Presumably the 1.8s will be a fair bit better on economy.

    Hondas tend to be somewhat overpriced at the banger end of the market; Nissan are much better value for money and just as good if not better on the reliability front.

    I quite like the idea of a diesel but I think we can get more for our money for a petrol. Hondas have a good rep for being reliable and lasting for a long time. Plus they are fairly understated and priced accordingly
