Can't we just forget the whole idea of a European Union and have a union of proper civilised English speaking countries instead? i.e. UK, US, Canada, Oz and NZ versus the rest of the world.

The damage done to police stations, police equipment etc has been seen to an extent as a logical reaction by angry people who have seen or read about over 100 young men and women (among those women an American citizen in the 1980s) who have been executed by rogue police officers since 1980. The usual excuse is self defense and warning shots ricocheting, however those bullets usually end up in heads, necks, hearts, chests. Never in an arm or a leg.

It is understood that among the burning and looting crowd are usually agents provocateurs, members of far-right organisations, even police officers. The well-known Chrysi Avgi (Golden Dawn) organisation has been filmed in street protests attacking leftists and anarchists together with riot police. Of course, no punishment, no resignation ever happens.

This undercover work of the police is part of the effort to turn society against those who are opposed actively (in not always socially acceptable manners) to those ruling (PASOK and ND) and wishing to remain in power to get rich and fat. However, society knows and is angry with both sides, the militant youths and the government(s) and its agencies.

After the funeral of the boy who was executed by the police, riots flared up in the area close to the cemetery when students noticed the presence of riot police and were angered by it. Some riot police officers SHOT IN THE AIR in the afternoon in this residential area where people were on their balkonies!

Brixton, Toxteth, Southall; oh yes we can riot when we want to but it needs the right weather.
Don't tempt fate, we may be on the precipice. Or maybe not. Who knows. The real fun won't start until peak oil though IMO.

Look out! You'll be arrested under Labour's terrorism legislation for saying things like that. They're watching you, you know.
