Page 356/7 tells you how to go from contracting on £30k a year to £900 a day in 10 years.
Looks like I need to be a support monkey first though.

The section that details IR35 isn't available, which is a shame.
One of the Amazon reviews says "I have completely sidestepped the whole IR35 Tax issue," so it must be pretty good

Usually these sort of books are written when the system (eg greyhound racing) no longer works and the author just wants to extract a bit more cash out of a dying idea.
Does that mean that contracting is over?

I think an editor has been over enthusiastic or the writer forgot to say all they meant. I reckon he was saying that an IT contractor doesn't have to spend all that VAT as they can claim some of it back, whereas a permie has to pay all that VAT as they have no chance to reclaim.Originally posted by minstrel View PostNot sure this guy knows what he is talking about. Not sure this guy knows what he is talking about. On page 8 he says:
If he's getting confused between income tax and VAT, it's a little worrying...In the UK for example, permanent staff earning £100,000 would lose the majority of it to Value Added Tax (VAT)...

used the search inside book feature for contractoruk and got 4 hits. none of them appear to point to the forums so not a complete guide then.
