Too expensive, a £1500 civic would be a Honda 400. You can pick up an equivalent Honda 400 for £400

Yes but they’re so boring people forget they exist. If you bought one you could end up forgetting to pick it up from the car park and wondering what that key in your pocket’s for.Originally posted by ThomasSoerensen View Postyou forgot to recommend a Passat.

Anything Japanese, however they tend to hold their value well, so a newer less good car will probably be as reliable. You can get an 04 Mondeo/Laguna etc for that money these days (at auction).Originally posted by juststarting View PostSold my beemer , now hunting for something for thing 1500 GBP .
Which car make, that holds up well at high mileage , would you recommend ?
And generally what I need to be aware of or what parts I need to check when buying junk car like that ?

My mate owns a 1987 Mercedes 200D with over 1 million kilometres on the clock. It’s slow, ugly, brown and completely outdated, but it just keeps going and is very fuel efficient for such a big comfortable car.Originally posted by juststarting View PostSold my beemer , now hunting for something for thing 1500 GBP .

He's got plenty of money for something new but just doesn't seem to like new cars.
