My parents have their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec1 and I've no idea what to get them. I think my Mum would like a divorce, but maybe that would be unsubtle
There's very little, really, since he is in a care home (so has no expenses), is nearly blind (so can't see much / work a TV / answer a phone), and is quite deaf (so no CDs or anything like that). That and half the time, he's somewhat distanced from reality.

This year, it will be new photo, chocolate, school photos and charity donation (oxfam unwrapped or world vision, since you can customize the card there).

My parents had their 40th a couple of years ago - we bought them a photo frame which you can decorate yourself, and we (my brother, sister, their spouses and children plus my girls) all wrote a message on there for them, with a picture of all of us. We also went away for the weekend as a family (which is where we took the picture).

Good, yet not entirely festive, tip.

It begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas day, which as you say is the 30th Nov. this year, 29th next.

The missus wont buy Christmas cards in January, she says "people" (which I believe to be a euphamism for "other women") will know that the cards will be "last years". They all look alike to me anyway!

Christmas shopping however begins in August!

I possit that starting Xmas early, with all the decorations and stuff, is just the same as hanging a large Union flag out of the window. It's only purpose is to upset the minorities by saying 'We're real British and you're not, and if you don't like it bugger off to wherever it is yer came from'.

And should be treated as such by the authorities. Once one or two get dragged into court for so much as a 'Ho ho ho' as they pass Mr. Patels corner shop we'll have less of this Xmas nonsense.
