Obama is rumoured to have already done a deal with Iran in that they will talk to them IF Ahmedwhoisname steps down. Talking to Iran is the right thing to do - as you cant beat these people [Muslim Fundamentalists] in this war. It is never going to happen. So Obama needs to ensure that Oil prices go down - these challenging nations than suffer - including Russia - and then they will be more willing to cooperate. Good thing is that Saudi's are onside - as they always were - and with their £1.5 trillion safe in the bank they can afford to let the prices go down - as without USA the Saudi's wouldnt even have that money.

The main reason for not invdaing Iraq after the UN backed expulsion from Kuwait was that amounted to not only a breach of the UN mandate but more seriously Iraq at that time had an arsenal of chemical weapons that would have inflicted severe casualites on any invader - not to mention the possiblity of devastating Israel with Chemical Tipped SKUD missiles.

Instead over a period of a decade the UN dimsmantled Iraqs chemical and biologial capabilites not to the extent where the country could not resist the invasion of 2003.

However Saddam could have been removed from power in a far better way - Iran made a UN resolution in 2002 to order compulsary free elections in Iraq - and any meddling by the Baathists would have resulted in a UN intervention including Arab forces.

The USA vetoed this method and rather embarked upon a brutal invasion and occupation - there was a better way to achieve the removal of Saddam without the subsequent tragic and enormous loss of life.

He is apparently busy writing more legislation for his buddies that relaxes the restrictions placed on their companies regarding environmental controls etc.

Legislation that is easy to create but difficult to overturn.

Same old dubya right up to the end..

How about that long mooted strike on the Iranian nuclear facility? Perhaps he'll give the Israelis the nod.
oh the world would be much better if Iran had nuclear weapons. They wouldn't use them on anyone, of course. Doh!

Well, it collapsed from its peak, howeve at $60 per barrel it is still much higher than $20-25 it was at start of the decade - another problem though that with raising oil price costs increased too as everyone wanted piece of the pie, but $60 is pretty damn good price of oil that sure makes Bush's oil buddies very happy.

Yep, but even the oil price has collapsed now thanks to the world’s economy being completely fooked, so all those investments in expensive shale oil and deep sea drilling are quickly going pear shaped. He really can’t possibly have many friends left beyond a few inbred donkeyshaggers in Texas. Oh, and contractor79 of course.
