Use the budget airlines a lot.... They're not perfect, but remember before they came along, how expensive air travel was?
Think I paid £210 return from Manchester to Jersey (40minute flight) in the mid '80s....
Now I can pretty much get from Newcastle to any European City for £80 return (if I book in advance ).
A big shout for Eastern Airways though...
£200 return from Newcastle to Southampton (OK I could go BMI for £50) but you get a glass of champagne served with your nibbles each way... and they have a checkin service that means you can arrive at the airport 20 minutes before your flight, rather than 2 hours

i've been flying ryanair for ages and really don't have any issues with them
yeah, their flights may get delayed more than most (though they say they have most on-time flights in Europe, the world, or something...the galaxy?!) but they are not as bad as some people make out

The 'bucket' airlines Sleazy Jet etc were all doing great business it seemed. Well, if you call great business snaking great queues of ..... well football shirted, cropped hair types and associated Sharons, all featuring aggressive attitudes and beer bellies (and that's just the women)
Never I tell you - never. Too old and too much of a snob.

Simply not enough people / companies prepared to pay such high fares.
Regarding the point about companies not paying for their employees to go on Ryanair when they can go on a quality airline - when times are tough and it may be a choice of not flying at all you would be surprised how many companies will FORCE their employees to fly Ryanair.

However, I don't see this working for Ryanair. I can't see too many businesses buying into the Ryanair model for transatlantic flights, they're more likey to fly Economy with a quality airline!

Could you have got there for £46 by any other means ?
If not, I don't really see the problem.

Still a v. cheap flight but these tactics are wearing a bit thin now.

FFS. Booked a flight to Germany today with RyanAir. Cost of the return flight: £0.00. Add £46 in taxes and fees. Okay, this is still very cheap. Okay, another £4 if you forget to check-in on-line 14 days before departure. PITA, but okay. Ignore the cost for baggage and insurance, I don't need it. Coup de grace is another £10 charge for paying by Visa debit card FFS. Still a v. cheap flight but these tactics are wearing a bit thin now.

I give up, go google the VW situation and you will see HF's did nothing wrong, was nothing to do with what you said ie profits. The price of preference shares Vs normal shares had fallen out of historical alignment..
arghhh forget it. Live in blissful ignorance fool.Last edited by YHB; 3 November 2008, 19:23.
