Qdos consulting have a freelance club, that's just £25 +VAT per year, and then you can send in up to 3 contracts per year for IR35 assessment. You'll only get a Fail or a Pass result though, if you want more details you'll have to pay more.

If you have any concerns over IR35 I would suggest you contact this bright young lady.

IR35 only affects tax dodgers and all legitimate businesses remain unaffected, so there is nothing to fear. Just remember to tick the New Lie box at the next election to be sure.

Thanks for the kind words Holsson.

We tend to recommend speaking to Qdosconsulting.co.uk to read over the contract for IR35.

    1st Accountancy

From my first weeks experience I'd recommend Darren. I just started contracting a few weeks ago and I've asked quite a lot of questions that have all been answered quickly (the slowest email response has been a few hours) with good explanations.
Can't compare it with any other accountants since I've never used any before, but I'm happy at least.

You can pay anything from £55 + vat per month (i.e. us). I've seen people move to us having paid £2k the previous year!!

If you want to keep a couple of degrees of separation between yourself and your friend it might be better to use a different accountant, one who specialises in contractors. Why not give Darren a shout?

The agency suggest that I start with a management company and then change over....
Why not use a firm of accountants that can supply you with a limited company free of charge as part of the accountancy package!

A limited company can be set up in less than 24 hours, for example, we put one through this morning, came back from Companies House just after lunch!

As for VAT, if you're turnover is greater than £58k then you must register for VAT...if not, it still may be beneficial to be registered. Any queries, drop me an email (details within my profile).

Well, the summer is over and "the season" has begun again! Well it has in our neck of the woods. Perhaps he's *busy*.
