Don't have to send your licence off anymore. The examiner (if you pass) takes your old one, shreds it and a new one appears in the post. Much better system if you ask me.
The new test moved a lot of stuff off road such as the u-turn, e-stop. You also have to do an obstacle avoidance.
That was meant to start last week but its been put back to March '09.
When I passed my bike test, I had to ride slowly around the block, the Test officer jumped out from behind a parked van holding out his clipboard. I did and e-stop. he asked me to ID about 10 road signs and then passed me
If you do pass - make sure you send off your pass form and get it put on your licence within 2 years. Just a top tip!
Whats the new test?

Oh, and best instructor: One of the chaps who taught me to fly, when I was just before test, taught me to hover taxi down a taxi way while doing a spot turn. Give the effect of pirouetting down the taxi way... way cool!
Arn't DAS lessons done on the 500cc's ?... I was doing it last year (although never completed it for other reasons), but there's no way they would even blow a Vectra away, let alone a Supra.
Now I'm a lardy arse but seriously how heavy must you be to make it that slow.
Ok, we're not talking mega speeds but 60 comes up in about 6 seconds I'd hazard a guess at.
If the supra had gone for it I'm not saying he'd have been slower than me I just liked the image of this "Learner" with massive L plates streaking away from the lights and he just sort of sat there then nailed it past when he realised what happened.
After all the last time you saw a learner did you think they'd nail it upto 60 as fast as they can?

Direct Access? If so, they are supposed to teach you how not to kill yourself doing the stupid stuff you'd do anyway...
Yeah DAS. Yeah they've covered the "do this and don't die stuff". The course is 3 days (they added an extra day due to the new test coming in) but that changed so I guess we just have some time to have more fun.
My minds still on the mend after the "push right to go right" thing bent it out of shape. I consider myself intelligent but that tulip just doesn't make sense.
Spent the last 2 days learning to ride a motorbike - coming along nicely.
Got to some traffic lights on a stretch of 40 dual carriage way supra sat there revving the engine. I was front of one line of traffic him the other side.
Lights went to amber and all I heard in the radio from the instructor was "just fu**ing do him".
That's all the encouragement that I need. If I ever pass it'll be a miracle we seem to spend 50% of any lesson not learning but "having fun" (aka ignoring speed limits) on the country lanes. Not complaining though its been a blast.
Best instructor ever...
