    Stay away from games development unless you're really passionate about it - the pay is crap and the hours are long.

    If you want to get into web development, you'll learn a lot more actually doing real work than going on some pointless training course. Get a solid grounding by doing web development for friends or local businesses and then get yourself a junior dev role at a creative agency for something like 12k - just to get your foot in the door. If you're any good you'll be able to earn 3 times that (perm) or significantly more (contract) within 2-3 years.

    would it give me a chance of getting a job in either area or am i better off doing a degree in either (im interested in both) ?

    currently have 8yrs 1/2/3rd line support experience (nothing to do with the above)
