    Huge waste of money...

Why any city in the world would want to spend billions just to hold a race to see who can run faster than someone else is beyond me.

I'm with the other posters here though that think the UK should actually not bother investing in any new facilities but stick the contestants in various parts of London and just told to get on with it. Lets see how these pandered "olympians" like that.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Heath Robinson

Why build a stadium? Surely the 100 metre event could be done on Oxford street? Just open the traffic between races. This works for the Marathon. We need other good ideas like this to do the Olympics on the cheap.

Why did we bid for this again? 4 years is never going to be enough time, it'll take 3 years just to organise the project plan and overcome objections.

It is an easy journey into the City from there.

I can see that if the standard of the area improved it could become quite a desirable location to live. But the standard of the area would have to improve significantly.

Simple solution: Instead of putting on an expensive fireworks display that only lasts once, put up a huge screen (made of cheap paper) and project a fireworks display on that. We could make big impressive sounds with lots of speakers too. Cost: about £1.50, impressiveness: infinite. Sorted.
