Once you've destroyed their air defence and military would you hope that would then force them to the negotiating table? If not what do you do then?
All it would do is raise the price of oil by an order of magnitude, and kick off Hammas in Lebanon

They have made so many deadlines over the years and then backed down from them that nobody takes the pussy footed idiots seriously any more.
Look at the multitude of so called deadlines they gave Saddam over Kuwait!
They gave him enough time to strip the country and destroy the oil fields.
Now they are giving the Iranian Psycho's enough time to prepare a nuclear arsenal.
Is it pussy footing or are they waiting for an excuse to go in hard with the military?
Is this a prelude to a controlled nuclear war in the middle east?
It would certainly be to the West's advantage to bomb them back to the stone age and put in a caretaker government (to continue the flow of oil)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States will soon link Israel up to two advanced missile detection systems as a precaution against any future attack by a nuclear-armed Iran, Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak said on Tuesday.

The allies are also in advanced talks on upgrading Israel's Arrow II ballistic shield, though they disagree over whether it should incorporate an American interceptor missile, Barak said after meeting U.S. Defence Secretary Robert Gates.
Washington has been leading efforts to curb Iran's atomic ambitions through sanctions, mindful of Israel's threats to resort to military strikes if it deems diplomacy a dead end.

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's president said on Friday the Islamic Republic would "stand against" its enemies with its "power", speaking just before a deadline set by Western officials in a dispute over Tehran's nuclear ambitions.
"Iran is continuing to advance toward a military nuclear capability and is heading towards a major breakthrough," the Iranian-born Mofaz told a think tank after talks in Washington with US officials.
"For us such a situation that Iran will have a nuclear power is an existential threat and from the state of Israel point of view, it is unacceptable," Mofaz told the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
"Our estimation is that already by (2009) Iran will reach enrichment capability and as soon as 2010 will have option to reach (uranium production) at military levels,"

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The clock is ticking for Iran to respond to an offer by major powers on its nuclear programme, but European diplomats say they are ready to wait a few more days beyond Saturday's informal deadline for an answer.
