A mate of mine (complete car nut) has sold his new Boxster S, 350Z, Astra VXR, Lotus and Celica, so I reckon it's pretty bad.
He reckons the bottom is falling out of the top end car market and he can sell his "fleet" now and pick up a bargain supercar later.

) why buy this car. It just burns money for no good reason. You can get a good 3 yr old Ford Focus for <£5k, 40mpg, cheap servicing and tax, low depreciation, insurance etc) drives great, looks ok and will do everything you need from a car.
The Phaeton does have a very good price/gadgets ratio. The thing that worries me is the awful reputation that older A8s have for electrical maladies - I can't see the Phaeton being any better.

If you think of a car in the same way you think about a fridge freezer, everyone would be driving a Toyota Corrolla or equivalent.Originally posted by Turion View PostUnless you're trying to impress a bird, (or compensate for somethingelse

No, I think that Wimslow bought a new one. Not necessarily a bad move as good deals can be had, but it will still lose 50-65% in depreciation during the first 2-3 years.

Unless you're trying to impress a bird, (or compensate for somethingelseOriginally posted by Olly View PostBought a 03 Merc CLK 320 for 17K about 20 months ago and with a such a depressed market, in light of fuel costs and the hike to £450 odd for car tax. I've only done about 4,000 miles in it as I was working in London and now I'm abroad.
To be sure of a sale I'm probably going to have to loose 5K or something
I could have bloody used taxis for less than that!
sobbing...like I said
