I recommend that you read both the Old and New Testaments as there were many other religions at that time. Islam in its current form did not exist then but its characteristics were evident in other religions which may or may not have been the template for Islam.
And the main two templates for Islam is judaism and christianity with small bits of pre existing middle eastern religionsLast edited by Not So Wise; 29 July 2005, 03:43.

Its all B 0 llock s
Substitute 'Book of Fariy tales' with the bible or the Koran
Substitute 'Tooth Fairy', Father Christmas' or 'Easter bunny' with allah. moses, jesus or mohamed
Then you'll have the measure of the religious nutters that exist on the planet today.
If you believe in a fanasty historical figure you are at best a little bit odd at worst a dangerous derranged f v ck in idiot. If you go so far as to want kill others becuase of your belief in a fantasy historical figure then the only real justice is that you should run up and down subway stations and let nature take its course :-)
Really, Jew, Muslim, Christian or whatever is just a diffrerent way of saying insane f V ckin morons not worth the s h1t from a sane persons ar sehol e.
As for shoot to kill why did they shoot the brazilian illegal immigrant 8 times? because they ran out of bullets!

Some might find a few seconds of mild amusement in identifying the webtulipes that Chico has cut 'n' pasted "his" answer from.

Theology lesson 101 - condensed
OK ALM - I trust you really want to know the answer so here goes.
The Bible says God is " Holy and Just" so sin (anything that goes against his will) cannot go unpunished. In the Old Testament days certain sins were punished by death. Now if you read the entirety of the Old Testament you will see that this punishment was only meted out after due process and guilt was proven. Now the Bible also tells us that God is love and as such the cycle of people sinning and being punished continually grieved him. Ever since Adam and Eve were seduced by Satan's lies all humans have inherently inherited sinful tendencies and it is ingrained in us. No one teaches us to be disobedient it is part of our being. Anyway in Old Testament the prophets prophesied about the coming of Messiah who would atone for all the sins of the world. Too detailed so here is a link for you.
Old Testament prophecies
As such since Jesus did come and die for the sins of the world (John 3:16) there was no need for a blood atonement from humans irrespective of their sin. The Bible says [9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." ](Romans 10)
As such no Christian can ever justify the killing of others because they do not believe in God. Jesus came and fulfilled the law and paid the price.
Matthew 5
[The Fulfillment of the Law
17"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.]
Now as to why The Commandments was universal and not specific because they (Ten Commandments, called aseret hadiberot (or sometimes aseret hadevarim, the “ten sayings”), designate the minimal moral requirements for mankind as defined by Almighty God. In the early Temple period, these commandments were recited immediately before the Shema as part of the seder (order) of worship.
See also these verses.
Matthew 19:17
"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments."
Revelation 12:17
Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring—those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus.
Revelation 14:12
This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God's commandments and remain faithful to Jesus.
Biblical study dispels a lot of the myths bandied around and I recommend you dust off your Bible and not buy into the lies spread by the forces of evil.

all holy books are bloodthirsty and bigoted IMO I wont go quite as far as to say the same thing about religious people but you can see where some of them get their ideas from.

Can we hope ...
... Good question ALM, but I fear you won't get a straight answer ...
So I'll answer the question instead. There is NO justification for picking one part of the Bible over another. And yes, the difference between the Bombers and Chico is just a matter of degree. For men to live free and happy, we need to get rid of the virus of religion.

Thank you for finally answering the question. So you do believe in it. That really is alarming Chico. So how exactly are you different from these crazed suicide bombers? I'm sure they too would argue that the resident infidels in London were worshipping the wrong God.
