According to http://calculator.contractoruk.com/ 45k equates to £25/hour outside IR35 (or £34 inside), which is what some of the contracts in the North West seem to be offering. May as well go and work abroad for similar money but much better lifestyle.

They are using contractors as back-fill - hence arm was twisted.

Given the current climate, and not enough months behind me to keep going, yes, very pessimistic!
