With the games due on the PS3 I'd be tempted if the online service was improved and there was a way of using the 360's controller.

No, the improvement is not that massive from what I've seen. Depends largely on individual films and how they're produced, which in itself means the overall improvement is never going to be leagues ahead.
It is certainly noticable though, so may as well watch the better quality when you've the choice.

PS3 is top for most media
I stream tunes from my PC
I recently loaded my brothers wedding photos from Cyprus - its got some cool ish modes for showing them and add to that the fact you can play tunes whilst watching them and it actually makes looking at other peoples holiday snaps bearable (nearly)
Games are good on it but far too few quality titles so far - obviously I will be getting GTAIV and spend a lot of time 'ill' and therefore at home

And to whoever asked Mario Cart is out for Wii - and playing online is pretty cool for those of you who can remember epic battles on the previous Nintendo platfroms it is better cos you get up to 12 humans to race against although still frustrating in terms of it being the luckiest and not the best racer who wins (actually that works well for me!)

I had the HD-DVD for 360, but hated it due to sound. PS3 is class and the upscaling is much better. only played one game was v impressed, however i cant get off CoD4 on 360 online. that game rules!!!
EDIT: PS3 beats the 360 hands down for media centre stuff, but the upcoming addition of BT Vision to 360 should be interesting. wont make the fan quieter tho

Apperently if you're using an external harddive then it does need to be in the FAT32 format.
Put the videos in a VIDEO folder, the PS3 knows where to look then
most stuff is fine, i've had the occasional video which will stop halfway through with an error. Not sure why this is, either bad encoding or the PS3 divx isn't the latest version (although the files i was playing when it happened were a couple of years old)
Theres some software from redkawa which can convert files to an MP4 format for the PS3, very handy for HD mkv files which are becoming more common.
indeed
no geeks on here then? use Windows media player 11 and share the library, turn on 360 or PS3 and search for shared media! update before xmas for 360 allowed this so you dont have to run transcode 360 and PS3 did it out of the box (much easier and faster and quieter) in March, from power on to full set up including media sharing = 6mins. over wireless too.

Cheers. Will bear it in mind when I get my next fix of the US TV series that are only available to us online. Talking of which, I think Lost S4 is back tonight.

IMO the Xbox360 is for gamers and the PS3 is for people who want to watch Bluray movies, the 360 also acts as media extender so you can stream Divx movies fresh from the torrent sites.
If you look at the game charts you can see the PS3 and 360 both have a pretty even spread of genres so I don't know where the 'FPS' tag came from?
The PS3 is NOT for watching Blu-Ray. Games first, then films.
I admit that the selection of games for the PS3 needs to improve, but then the 360 has been out for longer. MGS4 and Haze are coming and look very tasty indeed.

It's the lack of adult games that makes me only barely interested in the gaming side. Compared to the PC most console games are too simple and therefore boring.
I suppose I prefer the deeper simulation stuff where it's more brain power than reaction skills that count.
