True, the guy took punishment from a much larger fighter and deserves credit for hanging in there. Still don't rate Skelton; he hasn't fought anyone of note, he has no class - and being HW British champ isn't that impressive at the moment.
-
Not really. The bloke was clearly a no hoper who was working in the local butchers on the morning of the fight. Any competent pro boxer, and Skelton certainly is that, should have battered the guy. It is credit to him that he was able to take an absolute beating from the British Champion and stay on his feet.Originally posted by WageSlaveSurely that says more about the ability of Skelton than it does about the opponent's chin?

I'm not surprised by the Khan fight. It was his pro debut and people expect him to be a lucrative contender given a few years, so it's inevitable that his early fights will be against stiffs. That's standard stuff.Originally posted by wendigo100It would have been a good night had Danny Williams turned up, or Jean Shrimpton had fought Khan instead.
However, it was extremely disappointing to Williams decided not to show. Would have been an interesting bout.
