    The local radio - on behalf of the government - have been extolling the benefits of further education. According the the stats they describe a degree gets you an average 3k per year more.

    Hmm.......

    3/4 years less working life.
    20k of debt

    In exchange for 3k per year.

    If there is no interest on the debt then this makes the payback salary to be financially beneficial approx 30k. Looking at average salary plus the slightly better degree route this does suggest not doing a degree would be the financially sensible option for most people.
