Its subjective of course, but Im getting fed up with the uk. I've lived all over england, found good and bad. The thing that gets me is the weather, it's nice to have seasons but we seem to have 2 of them ; crap weather for 11 months, good for 1. Also, at the risk of sounding like a daily mail reader, I do believe there's been a marked increase in the abundance of a-holes in recent years. It does make a difference when you find you're avoiding certain towns or areas because of the kind of people you're likely to find there. I can only see this problem getting worse this year and beyond, as the 'economic miracle' unravels.

Out of the english speaking countries people here have lived in, which did you enjoy and why?

I lived in Aus for 5 years, came across tonnes of whinging poms. IMHO they're exactly the same ones who whinge here about things not being the same, blah blah blah. It takes a positive person I think to make a success of a move overseas.

Nope. Read my previous posts for a clue - I'd call 5 years in aus, 4 in the US and 1 in Holland (Plus 1 1/2 years of just bumming around the world doing ski seasons and travelling) a success if we're measuring time overseas. Like I said, I'm here for the cash, I'll be off next year (start or end) with a fairly sizeable bank balance to invest in my plan B.

I think UK rates are still probably the best but in pre open door IT immigration times the UK bonus was much better. The rates are awful in Oz which also has IT immigration.

I've done my time overseas inc 7 years in Oz, it's also Blighty is best for me and I can't see myself living elsewhere.

Call me an old romantic, but warts and all it is still for me the best place to live. Not saying that has to be the case for everyone mind you, just speaking from a personal perspective as someone who has seen both sides of the fence.

If it weren't for the endless amount of poisony things and their reluctance to serve anything but lager, I would have been tempted to try my luck in Oz myself.
