    UK unemployment continues to fall

UK unemployment fell by 13,000 between September and November to stand at 1.65 million, government figures show.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the number of people claiming jobseeker's allowance in December fell by 6,400 to 807,700.
This jobseekers allowance figure includes thiose claiming contributions-based allowances. This is only paid for the first 6 months of unemployment after which, if you claim, you don't get paid anything. This sometimes results in people not claiming JSA as there's little or no point in it seeing as there's no real benefit in doing so.
