[2]Of course, there is some unfairness in it sometimes too but still a lot lot less than what is in the real world.

[3]not like in the real world where only the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer.

[4]just as every religion it has got its own lunatics who will spoil this and give it a bad name.
1: Not quite - if you throw enough money at a team they have an unfair edge that may not reflect the [edit: natural talent vs development]ability of the athletes themselves. There are many examples of this, not least in F1.

2: Are you also a fan of WWE? I notice that the players/WAGs at the top of the game have very down-to-earth lives.

3: Oh no, not at all, while they charge people an absolute fortune for tickets and merchandise and laugh it up in the boardroom.

4: Very, very good point indeed IMHO.

The last person that spoke those words around 'ere raised the ghost of ole Dodgyagent, erstwhile capitalist Zealot. He believes the only thing that frees us of him, is the working of the free market, if only he knew, last time we had to call in a state funded parasite to exorcise him!

Because it is more than a sport. It's a religion. It gives you the sense of community, it makes no distinction between the riches and the poors, it gives you hope that the world is fair and that only the ones who deserve to win are the winners.

Of course, there is some unfairness in it sometimes too but still a lot lot less than what is in the real world.

He gives you hope because everybody has got the same chances, not like in the real world where only the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer.

It should teach you that there is only one way to get what you want. Work hard for it, there are no shortcuts, you have to use all the strengths you have and you cannot count on luck all the time.

Football is more than a sport. It is a religion. And just as every religion it has got its own lunatics who will spoil this and give it a bad name.
